Laura Bennett

Laura Bennett brings nearly 20 years of expertise in public policy, with a focus on technology, privacy, and general business. Before founding Summit Advocacy, Laura joined California Advisors, LLC in 2018, leveraging her deep policy expertise and extensive Capitol relationships to manage some of the firm’s largest clients, including Amazon, Uber, and TikTok. Laura’s current practice continues advising California businesses and organizations on complex, high-profile issues across technology, privacy & cyber/data security, artificial intelligence, media and entertainment, competition, autonomous vehicles, taxation, labor and employment, and more.

Previously, Laura served as Executive Director for TechNet, overseeing state advocacy and political activities across Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah. She led efforts in issue advocacy, government affairs, policy analysis, political fundraising, coalition building, and media relations, securing victories in key areas such as privacy, the gig and sharing economies, education, and diversity and inclusion.

Early in her career, Laura worked as a legislative aide at a Sacramento consulting firm specializing in transportation and energy policy, transitioning to Verizon Communications in 2004, where she spent 12 years managing legislative matters for California’s communications industry.

Laura holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government from California State University, Sacramento, and a Juris Doctorate from Lincoln Law School.
